I told you to laugh!

Mary had just been making Patrick laugh out loud and although I was too late to get a video of the actual laughing, they were still pretty funny.

They're in Love

Mary and Patrick are so in love with being brother and sister. When Mary wakes up from her nap every day she wants Patrick to lay in bed with her. Watching them cuddle, spoon and smile at eachother is pretty awesome.

Just a typical Sunday morning, reading the paper...

Patrick has kind of started to eat rice cereal so we hauled the high chair upstairs. He loves sitting in it - the view is much better than it is from the exersaucer. And he loves launching his toys off of it too; good thing he has a sister who is more than happy to retrieve them for him.

And speaking of sisters, Miss Mary had a fingerpainting-gone-wrong experience yesterday. I turned my back for a minute and she had smeared red paint in her hair, eyes, nose, face...pretty much everywhere. I also caught her trying to lick it off of her fingers. This is the same girl who also tries to drink her bubble bath water every night. Hopefully it's just a phase :)

Patrick is Five Months Old

How is Patrick five months old already? It feels very true that when you have children, the days are long but the months and years are so short! We've been enjoying the unseasonably warm February temperatures by playing outside as much as possible. Mary creates her driveway masterpieces while Patrick chills in the bouncey seat with his Sophie. This is his "stay away from my Sophie" look. He loves her.
Every day Mary tells me that she is a cowgirl and that when Patrick gets older he can be a cowboy. And then she makes him ride his rocking horse before getting on with him and riding together. It's cute for a minute but then Patrick starts trying to eat the fake horse hair and Mary squeezes him too hard and I have to call it quits after only a few verses of "Home on the Range."
This is Patrick playing with his chew-beads. It's a cute necklace for me and is made of non-toxic materials that he can chew on. And it's one of the few things he can gnaw on that doesn't squeak, jingle or clang so it's perfect for those days when Mary is napping and Patrick isn't. Who am I kidding, that's every day.

February Check-In

Nothing new to report. The kids are still cute, still growing and still wearing me out! Patrick has recently discovered Frankie and Chase (the dogs) and tries to grab a handful of them whenever possible. They love it...well, maybe tolerate is a better word. He's also teething and has tried to bite Frankie a few times. Luckily Frankie didn't return the favor.

Mary discovered the sourdough baguette I bought for dinner the other day and ate half of it. Half! If I ever needed proof that she's my daughter, I think that was it. She also made her daddy a popcorn sandwich for dinner last night. By the time he got home all of the popcorn had mysteriously disappeared but I'm sure he appreciated the gesture.
